Staying in Katoomba

Katoomba is the heart of the Blue Mountains, and Woodleigh sits within walking distance of it. Katoomba Street runs down the middle of the village, lined with cafes, bookshops, antique stores and the art deco frontages the town is known for. You can leave the car at the house for the whole weekend and still not run out of places to wander.

Echo Point and the Three Sisters are a short trip from the door, and the walking is the real draw. The Three Sisters walk is gentle and paved. The Prince Henry Cliff Walk follows the escarpment edge with lookouts the whole way. For something steeper, the Giant Stairway drops into the Jamison Valley, and Scenic World will carry you back up if your legs have had enough.

Winter is when Katoomba is at its best. Mist settles in the valley below the lookouts, the fires get lit, and the village is quieter through the week. Spring brings the gardens out, and autumn is all colour along the residential streets. Whenever you come, the mountains do the work and the house is there to come back to.
